Alex Veldtman the owner of Prodispace, is a mechanical engineer that graduated from the University of Pretoria in 2002. Originally a finite element analysis specialist, Alex gradually moved into the field of simulation automation and design exploration.

Subsequent increased exposure to the IT world and programming led him to database systems and web development – a field unknown to most engineers who usually prefer MS Excel and MATLAB to do engineering calculations.

The journey to become a professional developer and business analyst was an interesting one, accompanied by a very steep learning curve and many lessons along the way. However, it has placed Prodispace in the privileged position to combine systems know-how with engineering knowledge and an understanding of the challenges that engineers face on a daily basis.

Most of the technology that we have developed has been applicable to the engineering field. Our shaft inspection system eSIMMs has required a detailed understanding of shaft structural components and structural deterioration mechanisms. We were also able to relate to the engineers on site during implementation. Shaft maintenance is an incredibly difficult operation and we have built a system that accommodates the limitations posed on maintenance crews and the shaft inspection team.

Before providing a quotation we will put on an overall and safety shoes to inspect your site with you in order to understand the technical and logistical challenges you face on a daily basis.
